Mass Effect Amdromeda release date, price, features and trailer: Mass Effect Andromeda trailer showcased during EA Play 2016

It's been more than two years since Mass Effect 3 so when is Mass Effect 4 coming out? Here we look at the Mass Effect Andromeda release date, price, platforms, official trailer and what the game will feature. SeeThe 39 best ever first-person shooter games.
"When we wrapped up the original Mass Effect trilogy with Mass Effect 3: Citadel in early 2013, planning and design on Mass Effect: Andromeda was already well underway. We knew we wanted to start with a foundation composed of the best parts of any Mass Effect game: exciting new worlds to discover, great characters, and intense action. At the same time, we clearly wanted to expand the definition of what you should expect from a Mass Effect game," said BioWare.

Update 13/06/2016: Although no more details were announced regarding the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda, we were treated to a brand new trailer during the EA Play press conference on Sunday 12 June 2016. The trailer can be found below, and showcases the setting for the upcoming game - the Andromeda galaxy. It looks gorgeous, but doesn't give away too much in terms of actual gameplay.

Mass Effect 4 Andromeda: Release date and platforms

Update 3 March: Despite the below promise, EA has confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda is delayed until 2017. The firm's CFO, Blake Jorgensen, made the announcement during an investor call where he said there would be new Battlefield and Titanfall games on Xbox and PC.
"We have our Mirror's Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we're pretty excited," said Jorgensen.
The fourth financial quarter relates to the first quarter of the 2017 calendar year so the game is still around a year away from release.
A specific release date is yet to be confirmed but at least we know that the game will go on sale in Q4 of next year with early 2017 being the front running for a release window.
Mass Effect Andromeda will be launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Mass Effect 4 Andromeda: Price and pre-order

Despite being around a year away, you can already pre-order the new Mass Effect game now. Good for those of you worried you might not have the cash when it does finally arrive we guess.
At Amazon you can pre-order Mass Effect Andromeda for £54.99 on PS4 and Xbox One while the PC version is just £39.99 – the usual pre-order price guarantee applies.
Meanwhile, GAME has the same price for PC gamers but PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can save a few quid at £49.99.

Mass Effect 4: Features, characters and vehicles

"While we aren’t ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy," explains the firm.
For starters, the new hero will be human and would have something to do with N7. The firm showed off two customisable armour outfits (above) for male and female players which includes a glass helmet. You will also have a new team of adventurers to 'work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with'.
Andromeda is a new galaxy which you'll be able to explore while piloting the new and improved Mako (see below). It looks like you'll be able to jump between planets at the touch of a button. The game will take place in the Helius Cluster, a group of hundreds of star which is reportedly 4 times the size of Mass Effect 3's galaxy map.
Mass Effect 4 will see the return of the Mako, a six-wheeled vehicle used in the first Mass Effect game. The good news is that it's being tuned to be speedier. "It's a really agile Mako, it's much different to the one you've seen before. There's no cannon on it, maybe it can hover maybe it can jump - I don't know," said producer Mike Gamble.
You can watch the official trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda at the top of the page which has been created using the Frostbite engine - it 'represents our visual target for the final game'.
BioWare added: "We are thrilled by what we’ve already been able to achieve in bringing Mass Effect to Frostbite and by putting our entire focus on PC and current gen consoles. With the time remaining in development, we’re excited about the possibility to push things even more."
